The Launch

Babel Research LLC is an innovative language learning company with an exciting new product for learners on-the-go. The market for people wanting to learn a second language is growing in our globalized world due to increase in travel, more overseas business developement and also peoples' general interest in other cultures. The company is in the start-up phase but a full website and product have already been developed in the BETA stages.

Background

Babel Research's product called "Babel Yak" is named after the tower of Babel; the tower that was built to reach heaven but failed due to people's lack of communication by difference in native tongues .

Babel Yak is an audio-based learning system where learners only listen to learn a second language. No reading or writing is required. A video format of each lesson is available where learners can read, hear and repeat as the lesson progresses, in a karoke-type fashion.

Babel Yak has an advantage over all other language learning programs in that it's an "on-the-go" system. These audio or video lessons are formatted to be put on any portable player. They can be purchased online and downloaded immediately. This ease of access and portability is essential for today's busy person. Babel Yak frees the learner from the computer, a book or sitting in front of a stereo - but also allows that option if the learner prefers.

Products

Babel Yak is a comprehensive system and not a phrase-book nor guide. Babel Yak is a program for a learner who wants to build fluency and a good command of a second language. Each lesson builds on one another and recalls phrases and words from past lessons to have the learner intuitively speak and build onto conversations. The Babel Yak system is sophisticated in that it exploits the human brain's natural way of memorizing new words. That is, by repitition and building on connections between the frontal and partietal lobes of the brain. Learners will find themselves memorizing new words and phrases much more quickly and effectively.

For visual learners, Babel Yak has a video format of each lesson available where learners can read, hear and repeat as the lesson progresses, in a karoke-type fashion. All of these videos are pre-formatted for all portable players (iPod, Zune, Sandisk, etc) and are also for on-the-go learning. Audio lessons are identical to video lessons and are a substitute for users who do not have video capability on their portable players. However, no portable player is required to buy or learn. Lessons can easily be "burned" to audio disc or video can be viewed from any computer after download, though the "on-the-go" element is then gone.

Babel Yak is effectively the only comprehensive on-the-go learning system for acquiring a second language.
